Byron Dispersant Program

ChemStaff has worked with Exelon nuclear to design a dispersant program for long path recirculation during start-up of the Byron Unit 1 in 2011.  This program will remove iron deposits and reduce corrosion in condensate and feedwater systems.

ChemStaff and Exelon Nuclear are currently finalizing the long path recirculation dispersant application plan for the Byron Unit 1 refueling outage in 2011.  ChemStaff has developed a program with Exelon Nuclear and Dominion Engineering that is designed to remove iron deposits from, and reduce corrosion in, the condensate and feedwater systems.  The dispersant places a negative charge on the iron oxide in the system, thus reducing the potential for deposition and increasing the chance for iron removal via blowdown.
